Leadership

Takes initiative, demonstrates effective decision making and informed risk taking, and motivates and encourages participation from others to work towards a shared purpose and vision.

A select list of activities (with descriptions) in the CCR that are associated with the Leadership competency:

• Team Captain - Women's Rowing (Intercollegiate Athletics)
  • Represented the university in local, regional and national NCAA competitions, and played a leadership role in assisting the coach with decisions, managing conflicts, and fostering community among players.
• Advanced Director (Dramaturgy Unit, Department of Theatre and Dance)
  • Led a creative team of students and collaborated with faculty toward the production of one performance (staged reading, small-scale production onstage or remote, devised piece, movement piece); worked closely with the team in pre-production, rehearsals, during the run, and post-production.
• Student Lead Cashier (UC San Diego Bookstore)
  • Provided leadership for a team of student cashiers covering customer service at the Bookstore. Trained new student employees on point of sale and store operations. Interacted with visitors, students, staff, and faculty to provide outstanding customer service. Fulfilled online orders. Answered email, phone, and in-person inquiries regarding Bookstore and general campus operations and events. Opened and closed store in absence of manager.
